Can you turn a lamp like a pendant lamp into a swag light.?

We don’t want to hardwire the ceiling lamp, just want to plug it into the socket, like a swag lamp, but can’t find many swag lamps. So can I just use the Swag Kit to convert that hardwire lamp into swag?
