track lights pendant Archives

We have decided to swap the living room and dining rooms in our house, that is, use what is supposed to be a living room as the dining room, and visa versa. One problem is that the living room does not have an ceiling light. I would like to install some pendant lights in what is now the dining room for over the table.

My question is this… what is the best way to do this when there isn’t an existing ceiling light?

The room has a wall socket that runs turns off/on using the light switch. I would like to tie it into that light switch, but don’t want to have to cut into the ceiling and walls any more than is necessary.

Any advice would be great.
It is on the lower floor of a two story house.

Hi, so I just bought a light but it did not come with a lighting kit. I really want to have it be a pendant light but i’m not sure where to buy it or what kind of kit will work with it. Here is what it looks like:

I am just using a hanger to hold up my light in my closet right now and I would really like to be able to find the right kit to be able to hang it up in my dining room.

This is what I want it to look like: http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv279/vintage24/p_w253_alt_WE09A348_SP09_0811251406.jpg

I have preset lighting already, so I also just want to be able to turn it on and off with the light switch. I dont want the kind where you plug it into the wall.

If anyone could help me that would be fantastic. Thank You!
I already took it to home depot but they didnt have it…

I am having a kitchen island installed that will be 4 ft x 6 ft with a bar on the 6 ft side. I am planning on installing pendant lighting above it. The lighting will have 3 lights across. How wide should the pendant lighting be in order to be in proportion to the bar?

I need lamp/lights that can hang from the ceiling but plugs into the wall
NOT the kind that requiers going into the wires-live in apartment,

Whats the diff with a pendant lamp and hanging lamp?
Mounted?

which doesnt requier going into the wireing

We don’t want to hardwire the ceiling lamp, just want to plug it into the socket, like a swag lamp, but can’t find many swag lamps. So can I just use the Swag Kit to convert that hardwire lamp into swag?

Thanks!

I have an existing junction box in the ceiling which I think is meant for a ceiling fan. I want to install a track light at the junction box but not sure if I can do that due to the voltage requirements. I have 4 wires in the box, I green, 1 red, 1 blue and I white. Can someone please help me and tell me what wires I need to connect.

i know there is more to it than connecting wires so if the wattage is the same from the track light to the new fixture will they be compatable? will there be a problem going from halogen to incandescent? will i burn my house down?

I have a small track lighting fixture with halogen bulbs. The bulbs came with a small suction cup device but I cannot figure out how to get the bulb out of there. Help!

My hallway has 5 recessed can lights each with a 75watt bulb operated on the same switch. I would like to install a 5-bulb halogen track light in the middle of the hallway to illuminate wall art. Can I remove the bulb and insert from the middle cannister fixture, cut the wires to the bulb receptacle and use the same wires to power up the track light. The track light with 5 bulbs will consume 150 watts through a low voltage transformer. Is this safe? The cannister light sticker says 75-watts maximum.

I have an existing flourescent light above my sink, wall mounted, and I would like to change it to a swag light.

all 3 lights are to run off one switch, first we had it all hooked up put in a light bulb and they came on…without a switch, obviously that does not work…what am I doing wrong?

I saw these track lights in a mens magazine a while ago. They are track lights that you plug into a wall outlet. They do not have a fuse box or require wiring into walls or ceiling. They are sold in a few different styles and you can choose how many lamps you would like. I tried searching a million ways on the internet and have come up empty. Does anyone know the website?

Attention all of you gardeners and decorators out there,
I have an outdoor pendant light I would like to hang on my patio. The problem is that the cord is so unsightly. Any ideas on what I can do to cover it? I tried to put chain over it but the plug is too big to fit through the chain and I’m not an electrician so I don’t want to attempt any wiring. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The lighting websites don’t tell me what I need and I want to hook it all into one dimmer switch. The room I have is approx 400 square feet with cathedral ceilings. I want to run the track on the beam down the middle of the ceiling and want to know what I’d need to accomplish a well light room. Thanks

I’m looking for any pictures or videos of Test Track (Epcot) and Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom) with their service lights on or a ride through with their lights on. Does anyone know where I can find these? Links would be great.

i just bought a new track light for my bathroom but the bulbs are halogen, is it suitable to hook them up in the bathroom or will it look bad

thank you

What’s the minimum length the bulb should be from the ceiling (for safety reasons). I’d like to shorten the drop but not sure by how much

would be a good place a install light switch, like i said it is pretty open, only available wall would have cabinets attached to them. all suggestions would be great.

My husband swears they don’t exist, and I swear they do, since my parents had one when I was a kid.

I tried replacing the bulbs, but they still don’t work.

The bulb that works is the one closest to the power inlet.
