how many recess lights should I put on ceiling with measurements of 24 x14?
architecturally with my ceiling measuring 38 liener feet would nine recess light be to many to place? I have a tray ceiling .

8 or 9 sounds right, think of furnature placement, pictures and places you really need to see doorways etc. You would not want to nap on the couch and get a can light in the face etc., nor a glare on that new Big Screen. Light where the windows are replaces daylight that would normally be, A nice light on a seperate control for a reading chair and a dimmer will do wonders. Set lights temporary and view them to be sure you only have to set them once. Good Luck
I think that sound like too many but don’t know the actual layout of your wall, what room you are doing, so that might be just fine….don’t put them in front of windows or doors, and don’t put one over your TV..and space them out evenly…I have more in my kitchen than in the great room..you need more lighting in the kitchen than in a livingroom.
