Wondering what would look right in a galley kitchen. I know recessed will work, but thought it could be nice to do a combination of recessed lighting and pendants. Is that a bad thing for a galley kitchen with standard heigh ceilings? I don’t want to do track lighting.
track lighting wiring problem, the light stays on, switches don’t control it.
there are two switches on the wall, one on each side of the room.
I had a light in place before, and it worked fine, could on and then off from other switch, or vice versa.
Now, i hooked up a NEW light today, and connected white to white wire, black to black, and ground to ground wires in the light switch, junction box on ceiling.
I’ve got one other wire in the junction box, it’s red. I don’t think it was used before though – it has a marette on it.
Please help.
thanks.
currently an old floresent fixture is installed, how to replace it with track lighting.
I’m looking to install track lighting in my apartment. Currently my apartment has one light fixture in the middle of the room. I want to replace this light fixture with a set of track lights on either side of the room and a ceiling fan where the original fixture is. Is this something that a relative novice can do? Or should I hire an electrician?
placement
Is track lighting good for general lighting in a living room and kitchen. Understand if placement done badly it will create glare, be hot and shine in peoples eyes. If OK, what brand and size of lights should be considered.
As the title states, I’m installing a standard track lighting system on my ceiling. It will be wired directly where a previously existing ceiling fan is located. I want it to be dimmable. My question is in the voltage and how I determine if I need a Magnetic Low Voltage Dimmer or a Electronic Low Voltage Dimmer? Which one will make a humming noise or give spikes in the dimming? Links would be great too. Thanks!
My husband and I have never installed any type of light fixture before. We just bought a house with a large kitchen. There is only one celing fan in the middle. We would like to put track lighting in by the stove and prep area and some sort of celing fixture over the kitchen table. Is it very complicated to install new fixtures? It always looks easy on HGTV, but I know those are professionals.
which one looks cooler to you? modern pedant light or track lighting?
Want to install track lighting on a dropped ceiling in the cellar. It’s one of those "lovely" styrofoam-like tiled ceilings with the metal grid.
I want to install track lighting in my apartment. Unfortunately, we don’t have an overhead fixture; I have an outlet on the ground that’s controlled by the light switch, made for standing lamps and such.
Are there track lights out there that work like a lamp, that can be connected by an outlet? I’m willing to put up with the power cable, I’d just have it hugging the corners.
My apartment formerly had traditional track lighting, but now all that’s left is a live end connector sticking out of the wall (not sure if it’s H, J, or L standard); even the track itself is gone. I’m thinking of purchasing Ikea’s "Termosfar" track lighting system to use at the same location but am not sure how to figure out what additional parts will be needed to install the low-voltage Ikea system into the existing infrastructure. I need to attach track lighting in an office with acoustical tiles. Can I screw the track directly into the metal tracks of the suspended ceiling? (running power is not a problem to the track, but the tiles have to stay)
