To install low voltage track lighting, what components do I need? Transformer? Lights? Track? What else?
The lighting websites don’t tell me what I need and I want to hook it all into one dimmer switch. The room I have is approx 400 square feet with cathedral ceilings. I want to run the track on the beam down the middle of the ceiling and want to know what I’d need to accomplish a well light room. Thanks

a power source and the knowledge of how to turn it off while you work with it,
a place to mount transformer.
appropriate ladder[s],
tools of trade, Wire striper [I have one that has a voltage sensor in the handle], voltage tester, lineman’s pliers, screwdrivers, etc…
wire nuts [probably yellows], appropriate screws for fastening to wood beam…
a helper and a car to make the two or three trips to the big box store that most people make. Good luck and be safe.
goto http://tracklightingpendant.com/pendant-kitchen-lighting.html " and pick out one of the types of track they have there. then click on sales and click on local representative. call them and they will provide you with a quote. as far as dimming you will need to use a low voltage
dimmer. make sure you get one that matches the type of transformer you use.(magnetic or electronic). Lutron is a good choice http://tracklightingpendant.com/pendant-kitchen-lighting.html "
