track lighting?

Is track lighting good for general lighting in a living room and kitchen. Understand if placement done badly it will create glare, be hot and shine in peoples eyes. If OK, what brand and size of lights should be considered.

need more information??? Where are the items you are trying to light ???
The lighting should be above the area to be lighted, slightly offset forwards so that a person does not see their own shadow. Track lights can be adjusted to point at various points in the room. They are not necessarily the best light source IMO they look modern/temporary and clutter the ceiling. I prefer recessed lights and there are low watt light bulbs for them. They are of course more time consuming and difficult to install but I feel they are worth the effort.
